Guthrie Stopover: Family Adventures
We started Friday morning by picking up our friends Amanda and Miles for our adventures to Guthrie. Her husband, Taylor, went the night before to scope out a sweet camping spot for us! These two guys were very tired and ready for a nap.
Mission Accomplished!
We got camp all set up and then relaxed a bit before heading to the stage.
We camped with the Transue's and Clenney's. We had an excellent spot thanks to Taylor! Here is a picture of us heading to the stage area for the first time. Ollie spent a lot of the weekend on my back.
Here is what we saw when walking in.
We listened to Willy Mason. We all really enjoyed his music. We were pretty hot so we decided to head back to camp for a bit and rest before going back for Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero's later that night. Here is a picture of us during Edward Sharpe. They put on an excellent show! We all really enjoyed it. Ollie ended up falling asleep before it ended.
We headed back to camp and we all went to sleep immediately. We all woke several times because of the banter and music in the campground area, but overall we all were able to sleep enough to be rested. There was a train track near by and Ollie woke up bright and chipper in the morning exclaiming, "Choooo Chooo!" We made campfire coffee and were able to share with everyone in our camp and even had some leftover for our neighbors. They were definitely appreciative because the line at the only coffee vendor was over 50 people deep! Once we all woke up a little, we headed around for a walk and wagon ride around the campgrounds.
It was a hot one! Taylor's parents lived about 20 minutes away, so we all ended up there for an afternoon swim and cool down. We were so very thankful to have a break from the heat and to rejuvenate. Later, we made it to the stages for Alabama Shakes and Mumford and Sons. Here is a picture of Mumford and Sons playing.
We had a great time and were thankful for the experience of camping with Ollie and taking him to his first concert! He enjoyed the camping so well that we are planning a trip for this fall.
